The successful Ruby on Rails Developer should ideally have proven experience developing high transactional web based applications and will be an Agile advocate practising Scrum, TDD and BDD. My client also use Cassandra, Redis, AWS, Elasticsearch, and are not averse to using any other technology that helps them to keep ahead of the game.

Essential Skills Summary:

• Demonstrable experience as a Ruby on Rails Developer
• Testing experience using Cucumber / Rspec
• Relational Databases such PostgreSQL and MySQL
• Good working knowledge of HTML5, CC3, JavaScript
• Version Control using Git or other distributed systems

Desirable Skills Summary:

• Experience developing high demand transactional web sites
• JavaScript experience using Angular, Backbone.js or Node.js
• NoSQL DB's especially Cassandra or Mongo, Redis or CouchDB
• Continuous integration (Using Cruise Control or Hudson)
• Any experience using Capistrano, Chef, Puppet or Ansible
• Active Github / Stackoverflow or open source contributions
