Well-known Swiss Investment Bank has an opening of Senior Java/Oracle Developer to work at the Bank’s office in London.

Role Summary

Developer to work in the core team. The role will evolve as the programme progresses.
Initially, the developer will work in a small proof of concept team to develop and prove the key architectural components of the project’s architecture. This will primarily be a Java/oracle implementation, but may also involve assessment against other technology platforms.

Subsequently, the role will migrate into the build phase. The developer will transition into the build teams, using the technical and domain experience he has acquired to mentor new team members on the project.

Candidate Requirements

Required Skills:
- 1+ years hands-on experience designing & developing high-performance, java- based applications
- Core Java (3+ years)
- J2EE technologies (2 years): including JSP, Java Servlets, JDBC (esp. Oracle), EJB
- XML technologies (1-2 years): XML, XML Schema, XLST, JAXP
- Web client technologies: HTML, DHTML/StyleSheets & JavaScript (intensive)
- Database technologies: Oracle (2+ Years)
- Data Modeling/Database Design experience (1+ years)
- PL / SQL (stored procs, functions, packages) (1+ years)
- Operating Systems: development & deployment on both Unix, Linux, & Windows NT/XP platforms
- Web application design (incl. Model/View/Controller)
- Communication and presentation skills

Preferred Skills:
- 1-2 years of financial experience (preferably Investment Banking)
- Experience working with distributed teams
- Experience building applications for IBM WebSphere
- ClearCase
- IBM WSAD or JBuilder IDE
- Database Optimisation/Performance Tuning
- Business Objects

Work Conditions:

This assignment requires a permanent move to London, UK. The candidate will be working in the Bank’s office with her/his team members in an exciting, fast paced working environment, and a culture of mutual respect and teamwork.
The company provides the work permit in the UK. After a year spent on-site, the candidate will have an option either to stay in London, or join an off-shore part of the development team in a senior technical or managerial role.
